Del-Sano Contracting Corp. completed construction of St. Joseph's Children's Hospital Pediatric Care Center and Women's Health Center for St. Joseph's Healthcare System. The 3,500-square-foot satellite medical facility is located in Hoboken, New Jersey.
The Del-Sano team included Frank Puig, project superintendent; Donald Young, construction project manager; and Kelly Mack, project assistant. Sterling Barnett Little Inc. of Arlington, Texas, was the architectural firm on the project with James G. Gary, RA, planner; Karin Taylor, RID, interior designer; and Cheryl Hadash, project manager. Buro-Happold of New York, New York, was the MEP engineer.
The brightly appointed patient care center includes exam and diagnostic space beginning at the patient triage room, then child and female exam rooms, as well as an ultrasound diagnostic area. All of the exam rooms are finished with sanitary impervious flooring and base, and the tidy wall covering finishes are joined with custom mill work and staged with hand-washing sinks. There are ceramic tiled ADA restrooms, for adult use as well as the pediatric patients.
The center also conveys a contemporary setting enhanced with soft and warm finishes, a cloud-like ceiling, and a conversational Moto Art receiving desk. The desk was built from a former DC-8 airplane. The airplane, an element of the Children's Hospital logo, is a signature feature at many St. Joseph's Children's Hospital locations.
The center build-out used LEED-qualified materials, recycling, low-VOC content, and indoor air quality standards.
