The American Institute of Architect's (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) and its Top Ten Green Projects awards program recognize the benefits of sustainable design and acknowledge architects as leaders in the creation of environmentally responsible design solutions. The committee is now calling for nominees for this year's awards.
COTE encourages architects and their teams to submit projects for the design competition, now in its 16th year. Winning projects will be recognized with an AIA/COTE award certificate and acknowledged in the national press, on the AIA website, and at the AIA National Convention in Washington, D.C., May 17-19, 2012.
All architects licensed in the United States are eligible to submit entries, regardless of project size, budget, style, building type, or location. Entries are welcomed and encouraged from both established and new practitioners and designers, and from small firms and large. New buildings and renovations/restorations are eligible.
Projects must be built and completed after 2002 and at least three months prior to the submission deadline. "Completion" is synonymous with "substantial completion" as defined in the standard AIA documents governing construction. The entry is to be submitted by the architect.
